Detailed Overview of the Study

This study aimed to investigate the association between polymorphism of NOS3 gene and essential hypertension in Guizhou populations of China. A total of 545 essential hypertension patients and 545 healthy controls were recruited for the study. Genotyping of NOS3 gene was performed using PCR-RFLP method. The results showed that the frequency of NOS3 gene polymorphism was significantly higher in essential hypertension patients than in healthy controls. The study concluded that NOS3 gene polymorphism is associated with essential hypertension in Guizhou populations of China.

The study was conducted in the Department of Cardiology, Guizhou Provincial People's Hospital, Guiyang, China. The study population included 545 essential hypertension patients and 545 healthy controls. The essential hypertension patients were diagnosed according to the criteria of the Seventh Report of the Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Pressure. The healthy controls were selected from the same area and had no history of hypertension.

Genotyping of NOS3 gene was performed using PCR-RFLP method. The PCR products were digested with restriction enzymes and the digested products were separated on 2% agarose gel. The genotypes of NOS3 gene were determined by the size of the digested products. The results showed that the frequency of NOS3 gene polymorphism was significantly higher in essential hypertension patients than in healthy controls.

The study concluded that NOS3 gene polymorphism is associated with essential hypertension in Guizhou populations of China. The results of this study suggest that NOS3 gene polymorphism may be a risk factor for essential hypertension in this population. Further studies are needed to confirm the association between NOS3 gene polymorphism and essential hypertension in other populations.
